Nicola Vigini - Grottesca Central Panel
Two-Day, Hands-On Workshop
Nicola Vigini's reputation as "Renaissance Reinvented" does not come unearned. Nicola demonstrates the
craftsmanship masters of old used to create their amazing works. One of the more unique among his vast array of artistic talents is his indelible flair for Grottesca.
A native of Rome, Italy, Nicola grew-up with an appreciation of the historic techniques and methods of the region. Now, his hands-on Grotessca workshop at the Faux Expo is available to teach you to paint the central scenes of these panels.
Incorporating a multitude of techniques, students will learn subtle graduations of color and how to bring these figures to "life".
The central section of Nicola's original panel (displayed here) will be taught along with as much of the flanking elements that time permits to educate attendees on the methods that have made this the genre of choice for so many palaces and villas throughout Europe.
Class will start by 9am on Thursday - 9/29/2011 adjacent to the Exposition Hall.
All paints and canvas as well as some brushes will be provided to the class, however,
students are encouraged to bring standard art brushes to avoid sharing.
Each student will complete a Grottesca panel similar to the one shown at approximately 2' x 3'.
They will be on canvas and be rollable into any standard art sleeve for transporting.
